managedchatrooms
provides an easy way for you to add a chatroom to your web site. Just follow the
instructions below to add a professional and functional chatroom to your page. The
current version of managedchatrooms
is available for a two hour trial. To continue hosting the chatroom on your site
beyond the trial, see the Purchasing your Subscription section below.
Signing In

1. Click the Sign in link at the top right of the Home page.
|
|
2. Sign in with your Live ID, or sign up for a Live ID from this page if you don’t
already have one.
NOTE: Only one chatroom can be created per Live ID at this time.
|

Defining the Chatroom
To define the chatroom, choose a user name, select the size of the chatroom window
in pixels, and select the URL of the page where you would like the chatroom to reside.
These details can be changed at any time.
1. Fill in the following fields with your information:
- Chatroom User Name: Can be different to your Live ID
- Email Address: Can be different from your Live ID – you will receive a confirmation
request
- Width: 300-2000 pixels
- Height: 400-2000 pixels
- Chatroom URL: The URL of the page where the chatroom will reside

2. Click the Save Changes button to proceed.
|
|
|
3. Upon saving changes, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your email
address. Click the link provided.
|
|
|
4. After clicking the link in the email, your browser will display a verification
message.
|
|
Viewing the Chatroom
You can view the chatroom once you have saved it.
|
1. After defining and saving your chatroom, it will appear in the view tab.
You can sign in using your Live ID or log in as a guest to visit the chatroom.
|
|
|
2. When you log in as a guest, the system requests that you enter a unique number
sequence. Click the numbers in the box to proceed. The numbers help prevent bots
from accessing your chatroom.

|
|
3. The Terms and Conditions screen displays. Check the box to accept the terms and
conditions, then click the Continue button.
|
|
|
4. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions, you’ll be able to access the chatroom.
|
|
|
5. The Ask the moderator button posts a question to the moderator of the
chatroom if they are available.
|
|
|
6. From this screen you can also edit or delete users, designate them as chatroom
monitors, and ban or unban them from using the chatroom.

Using the Chatroom as a Moderator
Moderators have extended privileges over regular users and a slightly different
view of the chatroom.
1. Designate moderators from the view tab using the Edit option. If
you have set yourself as a moderator, you can refresh the browser in the view
tab to see the moderator view.
Moderators can do the following:
- Broadcast a message to all rooms.
- Set the room topic.
- View all guests/users of all rooms.
- View other moderators.
- Respond to questions sent to the moderator.

2. To broadcast a message to all rooms, type a message, then click the Broadcast
button on the bottom left.
3. To set a room topic, type the desired label in the input textbox and click the
Set Topic button located on the bottom center.
To view guests, click on any of the room numbers (listed in the center column).
The guests will be listed on the right side. The shaded room number represents the
current room.

4. To view other moderators, click the M in the center of the chatroom. A
list of moderators will appear on the right, and messages to the moderator will
appear in the main window.
5. To return to viewing a chatroom, click the appropriate room number.

Publishing the Chatroom
|
1. Click the publish tab. The HTML for the chatroom appears in a text box.
|
|
|
2. Copy the code from the text box and paste it into the code for your site.
|
|
|
|
Purchasing a Subscription
Your chatroom will periodically display advertising links within the chat frame, however if you
subscribe this function is removed. Purchasing a chatroom is easy; simply choose the best plan for you, pay, and go!
|
1. Click on the subscribe button on the ManagedChatroom site.
|
|
|
2. Select a plan that works for you by checking the applicable box then clicking
the Purchase button.
|
|
|
3. You can either pay via PayPal by logging in from this screen and following the
instructions, or pay using a credit card or bank account.
|
|
4. Once you have paid using your selected payment method, a confirmation screen
will appear informing you that your activation email is on its way.
Note: The email often arrives immediately but may take up to a couple hours.

|
5. Once you receive your activation email, click on the link provided.
|
|
|
6. A screen appears explaining that you can either begin your subscription period
right away by clicking the Activate button, or what until a later time and
return to the screen to activate your chatroom.

|
7. Once you have clicked the Activate button, a message appears indicating
the dates and times of your activation period. Your chatroom is ready and completely ad free!
